we met fred ventura in 2006 over emails sent to italians do it better headquarters. he was one of the first people from europe to start writing the label prior to after darks release. it took us a few months to realize that this was fred ventura, the cult italo legend from milan. like a true gentleman, he had never bothered to mention it. since the early 1980s fred ventura has released numerous singles in europe & toured the world extensively as a solo artist. last year, johnny was in bologna on tour with desire & fred came out to the show to drink champagne & bring us some copies of the reissued tapes of fred’s early post punk group state of art. the lightbulb lit up & we asked him if he had any home recordings of his solo work. months later, he sent us 83 tracks of cassette recordings between 1982 & 1987. they had been sitting upstairs in a dusty box at his parents house in italy for the last 25 years. these tracks have only been heard by a handful of his closest friends. we were completely floored & honored! finding a beautiful treasure completely untouched & preserved is so rare. the songs are raw & honest written by a romantic with a love for an anthemic chorus & a drum machine running through his veins. think early minimal depeche mode with an italian heart. ornew order covering madonna produced moroder. yes, its that good. here we have the first official italians do it better release of these songs on a 4 song 12inch ep. this vinyl only release is a teaser for the >dont give up< 18 track lp out in a couple of months. so in the meantime, slip on those gucci loafers, rev up the alfa romeo and head down to the discotheque because life is too short

proper heat slid onto the nangsphere last year with their nifty >we are ready< ep. they certainly were… good reception all around and some fine plaudits. fast forward on 6 months and we are really pleased that the follow up >move ep< hits the streets. proper heat are from lithuania and are made up of martin virgin, saxtone and some fine vocals from karolis ramoska. laid-back, accessible disco house is the order of the day with this ep. we have two finely voiced tracks. dulcet tones and catchy songs abound with karolis doing a fine job in the voice department. lead track >the move” is mid tempo groover. mixes from nang label new-long-found-friend james bright and label stalwart (and supertop photographer) ichisan… you are always a subject when you are in the same room as this guy…. snap snap snap. james grooves it up with tight synthy bass and ichisan gets electronic and rolling. you can check out the video for >the move< on youtube and our home page too. the equally able >get ready< also makes a strerling appearance on the ep. another fine disco groovoid song. all in all the package overflows with extra dubs and instrumentals. bountiful disco abounds.

sampler #3 from the global communication back in the box compilation album, the techno and ambient retrospective selected by tom middleton and mark pritchard, back together again after a 15 year hiatus. opening up this seriously hot four track ep is an ultra rare and often overlooked carl craig remix of yennek, aka kenny larkin. two detroit pioneers collide on this beauty, with delicate oscillating keys gliding over a heavyweight breakbeat and clattering hats, a signature style of carl s. the track really kicks in with the bassline and monumental pitch bending synth stabs. a real must have for anyone with a love for the original detroit sound

soweso 009 bring us one of rumanians upcoming house-masters negru. after his amazing contribution to the soweso various artists ep last year its time for him to do his own release. on the a-side >break into the record store< is a typical negru hip hop infused house track that will surely make things bump in the night. on remix duties is pacha resident tuccillo that has brought us some of the best house tracks of last year on the isgud label. on the b-side negru teams up with his buddy boola for a jazzy house groover that begs for spring to start. welcome to the family negru! enjoy it and play it loud.

milan based heels of love is made up of luca saponaro (from krautrock-disco hybrids the love supreme) and michele tessadri (aka fratelli riviera). the pair of them create incredible 80s-tinged, earthy, synthesized music with healthy dose of real instruments. after some nifty releases on mad on the moon and under the shade labels we are pleased to welcome them to the nang family. with an lp poised to drop later in the year, the welcome first dose is the train >chain gang<.
the track features the dulcet (and ever growing in confidence) vocals of tokyo based max essa. the original is a pacey combination of maxs devoesque song, driving drums and the wide-as analog bass synth from the italian duo. are we men? we certainly are.

lnas third release comes from the godfather of the underground all the way from brookyln, new york: namely the legendary jovonn. first tune >a definition of a track< makes use of driving beats combined with ethereal and jazz-like melodies that work together to create a hypnotic atmosphere. second track >space atmosphere< has a more infectious styling, with an ever-progressive melody against a firm groove that grabs the listener and the dance floor. also featuring remixes from the much revered two armadillos, giles smith of secretsundaze and martin dawson (king roc) have turned out a modern classic to nail any peak time dance floor. the second remix comes from the newly formed mankind project. expect more from them this year with two other eps in the pipeline. this ep is something rather special!

2010 was an incredible successful year for nosferatu, with no doubt the biggest highlight of them all, hosting his own area at trillogy 2010! as a tribute to this night he hit the studio with some of his good and well - known friends in the scene, which resulted into this wonderful 4 tracker on enzyme records. the tracks sick of it all (feat. evil activities) and hate on yourself (feat. the viper) can already be called real floor fillers.poop (feat. ruffneck) and hope dissolves (feat. outblast) have a more experimental character, but they definitely know how to bring movement to every dance floor around the globe!

50 releases in six years! to celebrate this fact we release this special compilation with a great diversity of styles, ranging from disco to deep house and tech house. all tracks made exclusively for this album. this is the vinyl edition with 3 of the best tracks taken from the 15 track album. as we have always been pushing new young talent on dirt crew we also take this compilation to introduce to you some very exciting guys to look out for, first up is plan d aqua from holland with an amazing deep disco monster and second new face is the tortoise from melbourne with his deep disco/ house sound. he recently put out his first record on the fantastic 3rd stike records. we are also very proud to have our favorite producer and friend on the compilation with an exclusive track. mr. iron curtis has released awesome tracks in the last year on various labels and with >brthrs< again proves to be one of gemanys most promising young deep house artists.

part eight in the instruments of rapture series sees the anticipated release of the soul renegades deep n slow, fireside-funk jam, >darlin< (which is only a year overdue). the title track is reinforced by the uptempo, ballroom blazer >y all wont let me< with full fat remixes by the mighty faze action and the lincoln lecturer aka craig bratley.

following the massive 12inch on traveller last year comes the debut release on under the shade from hotly tipped alphabet city. remixes come from eskimos due downtown party network and disco stalwart toby tobias. expect to see much more from this act in 2011 with remixes on international feel and a handful of choice edits all being released.

zepp001 returns to delusions for our first release of 2011 and what a way to start the new year! the seattle based disco obsessive has been holed up in his recently completed studio in delphia (a city located on antarcticas southern shore) and its easy to hear the influence this strange and otherworldly place has had on the two original tracks here on this release

one year after his debut album on dial records cofounder pawel is back with a surprisingly fantastic remix package. patrice scott the shooting star of detroits house scene drops a version of crillon which represents the magic sound of his beloved sistrum label. osunlade the one and only yoruba soul priest into house music is one of the big influences of pawel and his label mates. and he is deeply in love with the dial sound himself! offering a remix which is already now a bright star supported by house masters like little louie vega is a miracle to be true! last but not least john roberts comes up with a version of kramnik to raise the origin to another level. this tune is so sweet and special as if we all were waiting for it. happy new year has just begun..

three artists contribute to this exciting new splitsound! the veteran tony matt (also known as gummish) producer for over 15 years delivers two tracks full of groove: >alcatraz< and >chrome<. on this last one puts the hands the german martin woerner that creates a remix for cool dancefloors. on the b side instead find the young monque, that offers its own hit (been played last year by ellen allien, richie hawtin, rino cerrone, carola pisaturo, seth troxler, xpansul) in 2010 version.

2010 repress ! paul ritch and his quartz music label return with a very special treat! the first release on quartz was pauls own >split ep<. the response to the music on this ep was incredible. not only from specialists, but also from the public. how do you improve on the package? well, draft in one of the biggest names in world of techno to not only provide a remix, but take the two biggest tracks from the release, combine them, and remix the mutant off-spring. indeed! this is just what dubfire has done. taking >walk the line< and >split<, melting them together, and then reworking them to provide what will, from now, and forever more, be known as.... the >split the line - dubfire mega remix.< 2008 proved to be a wonderful year for dubfire. his releases and remixes filled the top spots in many end of year charts. no more than they deserved. his >dios< & >diablo< tracks alongside oiiver huntemann were instant smashes, and his remixes took him to a whole new level. radio slaves >grindhouse<, minologues >jamaica<, gregor treshers >a thousand nights< & booka shades >charlotte< all received the dubfire treatment, and all, went on to be smash hits. 2009 is set to be even bigger and better for everyone involved in this e.p.. is that possible? just watch this space!

dimitri kneppers (1967) music career reads like an encyclopedia. a house encyclopedia. after 23 years of spinning records you could call this dj a true veteran. known for his enormous sensitivity, true feeling and mixing skills he gives you the sense you are the voyeur of an intimate act between two lovers. the music and the man. but nobody ever felt and looked so comfortable behind the decks as dj dimitri, for he brings the crowd at ease like don juan would do with women. when ecstasy is no longer just a word, but a true magical moment as the crowd, the surroundings and the music all come together in one hypnotizing state of happiness. this man knows -or should we say feels- what he is doing, not only behind the decks but also when producing. in september 2007 dimitri said goodbye to his headphones to work on a farm with mentally handicapped people. fortunately for his fans the break wasnt premanent in the middle of last year he installed a studio in his home, then this past june he returned to the decks - now he makes his planet e debut with a stunning track already tearing up dancefloors. included is the first of two remixes by carl craig. a second ep with remixes by orlando voorn and carl craig will appear in early 2011

two more missives from the leng stable, a stable basking in late afternoon sunshine the whole year round. here we have two remixes of cantoma tracks. on side a is ray mangs remix of under the stars a subtle disco groove, with a sweet rolling bass and a languid horn line that gently eases into the back of your mind, luring you into a hypnotic swirl. over on side-b lexx steps up to deliver an equally stunning take on gambara immdediately setting out a more electronic lilt, the track steadily builds into a mid tempo throb as the vocals wash over proceedings, while flute and acoustic guitar make way for each other in the melody stakes. timeless sounds on both sides evoking the summer just passed

the third release of the new label >lets get lost< which was started by mule musiq and force of natures kza. this third release is by uk producer extrodinaire leo zeros remix of the uks florence & the machine. this leo zero remix was released on only cd single and itunes in 2009. when i received this remix from the agent of leo zero i fell in love with it immediately. it was one of the biggest tracks for me in the last year but was never released on vinyl. leo zero reconstructed the aesthetic alternative rock (like a pumping cocteau twins!?) to very emotional house music. its simply good music and not only for the dance floor. greg wilson has edited it into a semi instrumental version which has never been released on any format. this release is official bootleg for limited press! dont miss it!!

q-base is a concept from q-dance that has evolved in the years to be one of the biggest harddance festivals that is held in germany.
the track >lost in dreams< by mike nrg has grown into the official q base anthem throughout the years. also this year the track is used as theme song and being released with some fresh new mixes.

beg to differ is a dance music duo comprised of house hero nick chacona and wurst label boss roy dank. the two longtime friends started tinkering around in the studio last year, remixing the likes of detachments for thisisnotanxit as well as nicks solo outing with kathy diamond for moodmusic, and quickly finding favor with fellow new yorkers james murphy and holy ghost!. influenced by talking heads, my bloody valentine, and paulsimpson, beg to differs work is characterized by big hooks, live instrumentation, and lush production. the duos wurst debut features two massive - and decidedly different - reworks. parisian afrobeat masters bibi tanga & the selenites get the full beg to differ overhaul on >be africa<, complete with infectious arpeggios, killer keys, and an entirely new rhythm section, with nick himself on bass duties. the pop rock of the hours >ali in the jungle< is transformed into an epic, string-laden anthem taking in disco, rock, and even trance by the end of the mix. heavy to say the very least.
